Kind of a long intro, so theres a TL;DR at the bottom.
Hey everyone, glad to finally start getting into the community. I'm from the NYC area, and i'm trying to find a good group of people to practice with, discuss smash, and generally have fun playing with.
I play mostly Melee, which I've had almost as long as its been around, but it wasnt until about 6 years ago that i really started playing more seriously. I picked Peach as my main, at the time because i thought it was about time she started kicking ass. Now i can't get over how much fun it is to string floating combos together, the frustration down smash causes people, and landing the perfect turnip from across the map.
More recently I've been trying to pick up Marth, as I'm a huge M2K fan, and he makes him look like an exciting and dangerous character. But it still needs a lot of work.
More casually I like to play Brawl (partially because i can't afford a WiiU) since its great at parties and with people who don't play very often. I "main" Marth, but really i'll just pick whoever seems like the most fun.
Most of my friends around here play more casually, and I really don't have anyone to go to tournaments with, but i'd really like to start.
Currently i'm not in any clubs or groups that play, but throughout college i would play with the video game club, and my high school senior class would play just about every day, and would occasionally hold 15-20 person tournaments, where I always did very well.
Outside of smash I'm really into soccer, coding, and cooking (specifically for friends). I've worked as a cook for the past 8 years, and I'm putting my computer science degree to good use with my desire to become a chef.
