Hello, Smashers!!
I am so thrilled to officially induct myself as a part of the Smash Community, starting today, Friday, June 13, 2014. I know, it's Friday the 13th, but it's better to join now than never!
To start, I'm Michael, but my online identity goes by "Smirky". Just for fun, my next birthday is this upcoming Wednesday! Woohoo!! Birthday HYPE!! Oh, how I got into Smash? Well, it's a rather fascinating story:
Now, I have no idea as to why, but I originated as a fan one day when I walked into a GameStop around 2009, I presume. When I walked in, I think I was looking for a new game to buy, as well as my sister. Hey, I was younger at the time, don't judge!
There. Over at the Wii section. Mario and Pikachu on the same game. I was a fan of Mario. My sister was a huge fan of Pikachu. So, being fanatics, we picked up the game... and convinced our Mom to buy it for us.
Years later, we became very experienced at Brawl. Since we never owned a GameCube, despite me personally playing on one before, we played in a rather odd manner. I played with the Wii Remote sideways, while my sister played with the nunchucks. Nevertheless, we've come to be pretty experienced, and we've beaten each other numerous times, despite me actually beating her more. Sorry, but that's just how it went.
Just for fun, I started off with , but as time progressed, I some how found myself coming closer to , , , and even at times, which surprised myself, never really digging deep into any of the Earthbound or Kirby games, nevertheless, the franchises themselves. In the end, Kirby has become my main character on Brawl, and needless to say, I bet that 90% of my brawls with Kirby have been victories. That's just an approximate percentage, to say the least! Kirby has been so fluid and easy to use for me, so if I can ever play that game, you bet I'm going to choose Kirby!
You know, with the new Smash Brothers coming around, I personally wonder whether or not I'll be able to use the same controls. Oh well, time will tell! Speaking of the new Smash Brothers, the information that came from this past E3 has been amazing, especially with @ TSM ZeRo winning the invitational!
Speaking of @ TSM ZeRo , that brings another thing on my mind. You see, I just finished watching the documentary on Super Smash Bros. Melee, and that really touched me actually. Yeah, a documentary over an (EPIC!!) video game made me feel emotional. You know what? Deal with it.
All jokes aside, it's really amazing to hear about all of the top fighters in the Smash community, which I have officially connected to, even after just watching that. Raising over 94 THOUSAND Dollars just to have Melee in a tournament, and the whole community standing together to have the event streamed right after Nintendo threw down the hammer, to have them successfully back away after 5 HOURS!?
That's amazing. The fans over here seem to really have a say.
How about this... I placed a deposit on the Wii U Version already, so I'm all set to have a copy of that. I'm also planning to get my hands on the 3DS Version. With that out there, I look forward to brawling you guys, andkicking your––
Oh. My bad. Hehe, but really, despite my skills not being comparable to the top Smashers in the world, I'd at least love to hear from more experienced players on how I can improve! It would be amazing.
Alright, enough of my rambling. I'm excited to browse the forums! Who knows, maybe I'll go Premium in the future! For now, I'm going to browse the site, and enjoy all of the opportunities that the Smash community has to offer. Sure, maybe I've never played Melee, but just watching footage is making me want a GameCube, and a copy of Melee. ^.^"
Until then, Smirk on!!
