I've been playing Smash since forever. I got melee when it first came out but I was never really at a competitive level. Now I've been practicing and I feel like I'm getting there, at least in Project M anyway. I was watching EVO2014 and I felt like I wanted to start learning Melee as well. So here's my question: If I play Diddy Kong in P:M then who would be the closest equivalent in Melee? Thanks guys, you guys are generally the best community out there and I'm happy to be apart of it!

Hm. Honestly there really is no "closest equivalent" out there.
Peach, perhaps, if you want to focus on the item based game. (Bananas)

Yeah, with Diddy's item game, he definitely stands out as his own character. But like Oddyesy suggested, Peach will be fine.
