Go here and read the last part:

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/music/music07.html

At the end it says that the song reminds him that "Heroes always arrive late."
Now what could that mean? Maybe that means that the best character thats gonna join is gonna be the last?
Since he said "heroes" it would most likely be a main character of a game like Sonic.
Or since its an Animal crossing song maybe he is referring to your regular AC character you use in AC?

Sakurai is leading up to something, with little clues in a lot of posts...But to it's meaning...no one really has a clue...

...up until we find out for certain, it's basically just conspiracy theory bull****...

...I'm psycho though...so whatever...

...I like that song

I think he was talking about the feeling of the song. Think of this scenario:

The bad guys are winning and the good guys have nothing else up their sleeves. Then the "main hero" arrives at the last minute to save the day. Here the song plays. Perfect fitting isn't it?

No hinting here.

From the beginning I thought that was for an AC character, that he wasn't gonna reveal till late November. Or to reveal more third parties. I think the first one is a bit more logical. His messages are always so cryptic.

I just wish ppl could be patient. If his messages are so cryptic then you probably won't figure it out before he actually reveals it.

"Heroes always arrive late" is a reference to how all heroes in anything always arrive while the criminal act is in progress rather than working to prevent it from happening in the first place... as far as human society is concerned, it would be boring if heroes were always on time. No action.

It has nothing to do with the updates. Stop over-analyzing.

If you honestly believe that one little quote that's well known means anything significant, and that he's later going to reference it in the smash updates... well, I'd hope you can see the transparency in that thought.

...I'd hope.

Obviously Sakurai's comment was foreshadowing a Halo Soloesque redemption scene in the Subspace Emissary involving Captain Falcon (Solo), Mario (Luke), and Metaknight (Vader). Yes, Metaknight is Mario's daddy. You saw the E3 trailer.

He was refering to how K.K. Slider starts singing right as the song ends.
