Here's something to try, an MVC Style Smash Bros. match

I tried something with a friend a few days ago, we were playing a three stock match with a similar play style to Marvel Vs. Capcom. Doing this is easy, just turn off every item except for Assist Trophy and Smash Ball. The assist trophies act as partner assists, and the Smash Ball is your super. Its not exactly like MvC, but its as close as you'll get in Smash.

Forget the assist trophies, just go 3-on-3 with smash balls and you have the full fight that MvC character assists are meant to represent!

I read the title and thought you were talking about Model-View-Controller. This makes more sense.

You can do something similar in Project M using All-Star Versus mode. You can pick three different characters and each time you lose a stock, you switch to the next character on your team.
