Here's a poll for all you superficial males out there: Should Samus have her Other M mole?

Metroid: Other M is a controversial game which divided fans of the series. While many consider it a solid action title in its own right, Other M has been panned for its linear gameplay, clunky first person control system, and lack of traditional Metroid exploration and power ups. Furthermore, this is coupled with a shaky story including the retcon of Samus' character from being a fearless one woman army of a badbass bounty hunter to an overly emotional sobbing wreck.

Also, according to Other M, the Metroid Prime series never occurred, so take that!

But, like it or not, the game is canon in the Metroid universe. Metroid Other M has been chosen as the visual focus of Samus and the Metroid series in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, as evidenced by her new character model inspired by Other M and the new Pyrosphere stage.

But! We've only seen Samus in her Varia Suit. We haven't seen Zero Suit Samus yet, which brings us to another retcon Other M brought us...

What say you? Should the Smash Bros. series acknowledge this change in Zero Suit Samus's face to be consistent with her Other M appearance? Or should Samus remain the flawless Barbie doll from Brawl we know and love?

It doesn't matter. Besides, she's already using the Other M design. Therefore, it's gonna happen.

To be clear, Sakamoto never stated that the Metroid Prime games weren't canon. He just didn't seriously consider them when writing the story for Other M, and only thinks of them as mere "side-stories".

About the mole, I couldn't care less if she kept it or not. I prefer to see her more like a battle-hardened Amazonian warrior, but if she is supposed to look like a model of pristine beauty according to canon, then oh well.

What I don't like is that it was seemingly added on a random impulse as she never had the mole in any of the previous Metroid games that showed her face.

Since Yoshio Sakamoto (Metroid series co-creator, producer) said that Samus always had that beauty mark, but in fact Other M was the first Metrid game to show her mole, its a yes-yes that she will have the mole.

Umm… I don't really care. The only think I DON'T want to see from Other M be done in SSB4 is giving Samus that monotonic voice.

I thought the title of the thread was misspelled and it meant model, what a dissapointment.

Actually, the mole, which really is a beauty mark, isn't a retcon per say. For whatever reason we never saw it in her previous designs, but Sakamoto had stated in a Super Metroid developer that Samus has a beauty mark, but not until Other M did we know where it was on her face. Seems kind of silly to then include it this late into the series yes, but it was intended to be there from Super Metroid and on at least, but was seemingly forgotten about.

Either way, I don't care personally.

It's not like we're going to SEE a small beauty mark in the middle of a fight, where the camera is not particularly zoomed on the characters.
