I want to get started in this whole stage hacking thing but I can't find any good tutorial on custom stage making.
Any advice?

Check the KCMM forums. I also believe there are some tutorials on YouTube, and there might be some in the workshop section on this site.

Check out this guy, I remember watching the videos when i first got into map hackking. Don't remember if they are any good though, but it's a start.

Most of the really advanced you kinda have to figure out on your own by screwing around, but such is the curse of using someone else's game as a platform for your creations.

Thanks, I'm not really comfortable with BrawlBox but I'll give it a try.
Speaking of screwing around, I found out the way you can add more Alternate Stages to Project M.
I'ts pretty simple, you just have to go to "whatevernameyourprojectmcopyhas" > projectm > pf > stage > melee > copy any stage and add a "_Z" to its name (e.g.: STGPIRATES "Pirate Ship" > STGPIRATES_Z) Use BrawlStageManager and replace your copy with any stage you like.
It worked for me.
