Help?

So, my brothers and I decided, as a fun summer activity, to have some pokemon battles, once a week, starting with all our pokemon at lvl30, and picking our pokemon in a sort of draft (with the same team kept for the entire battle-series, barring any trades, picked from all non-legendary 3rd gen, as we stopped really playing pokemon after 3rd gen.)

I know next to nothing about competitive battling, and havent been able to find anything 3rd gen out there.

If anyone has any knowledge of 3rd gen battling, or any advice on movesets/items/my team, I would appreciate any advice.
