I main the space animals but somehow, I find Wolf harder to play with. Is this because Fox and Falco have different play styles than Wolf or is wolf for advanced players and you need practice?

Well, as a starter, wolf should be the easiest to use. Spam the bair wall of pain, work from there. Alot of playing wolf is knowledge of the game, not really the character.
