Help with WiFi battles on WiiU

Hello, I have the WiFi version of PM downloaded on an SD card in my WiiU. The game works flawlessly, but I cannot play online. I connect to the Internet and get into training just fine, but when the battle starts, it lags like crazy and crashes. Will it be like this if I have my friends FC and play with him? help please-

Only if you're both using the Wi-Fi safe set. What console you're using has no affect on the actual gameplay.
