Ok i'v been playing smash since july now. Mostly i have been playing ssb64 online which im ranked probley around 30th. Anyways i pulled out the cube and started to play melee again. MAN IS IT DIFFERENT. I started playing melee again around november. But anyways the point is im getting pretty good with ganon (My main) And im wanting to practice my falco. Only thing wrong with it is i cant wave shine :( And i know how to do it and all. U just shine to wavedash. But what im asking is actually HOW To do it. I mean. I cant seem to move my fingers fast enough from B to X. So is there any button sliding or button techniques u could give me to help me waveshine better? It would help alot. Thx!

(LEFT HAND): Down + (RIGHT HAND): B = Shine

Then immediately you should transfer to

(LEFT HAND): Down Left/Right + (RIGHT HAND): X/Y [and either R or L depending on who you are]

Now that I made that semi clear, yes, you slide your thumb from B to Y (but I use X just because I'm more comfortable with it). Since I use X I have to pick up my thumb and move it to X. It sounds like alot more effort but its just as easy for me as it is for a Y'er.

If you cant move your fingers fast enough to X you either need more practice, or it might be a good idea for you to just switch to Y if you cant get it down after a few days.

Im doing it the x way since i only u y to button slide from y to b to shdl with fox. Tell me if im doing it fast enough. Its getting the shine to go out 2-3 times if u know what i mean. Im guessing 3 frames? Is that fast enough?

Well, it depends on if you are waveshining a shine that hit an enemy or not. I know my problem is when I try to wavedash out of shine that hit an enemy because I move my fingers too quickly.

Heres a better way to explain how fast/slow i can do it. I can shine, Wavedash then shine and hit them again with the combo meter going up. I use this on fox. I think im getting fast enough.

I bet your problem is it's difficult for you to wavedash with Falco. I have the same problem, I'm used to using characters like Fox and Luigi for wavedashing. Different timing throws me off.

Im kinda wondering the same thing u are burr. But the reason im concerned is because there was a shine guide for falco and it said if u cant waveshine u might as well give up on falco. Kinda worries me. :S

Remember wavedashing in general is just a form of movement. Waveshining with fox is useful but there is hardly ever a time when you need to shine -> wavedash - > shine again with Falco. Some people tend to DI your shine so you wavedash after a shine to get under them again so you can Dair them and continue the combo. But REMEMBER wavedashing is less of a skill and more of a form of movement.

umm wavedash with falco is very usefull:

> To get out of a shine and Continue a combo (ex: shine>WD>shffl Dair>Lcancel>shine...)
> Mindgames, nothings "not good" for mindgames
> Shl>wavedash backwards> Forward smash xD

i dont know anything else

I stated your first reason in my previous post, and also you can't go from shffl dair -> lcancel since the definition of "shffl" is short hop fast fall L-cancel.

Wavedashing is very slow with falco, plus it's quite difficult to do. He jumps high, falls fast and doesn't slide so much. Plus

Your last reason is completely idiotic, I hope you weren't serious about that.

Like i said before, wavedashing is just a form of movement, nothing more.

It wasn't posted here, so either he brought it from another discussion or he edited it. But anyways a wavedash's typical primary function is movement but it serves many purposes including positioning and mindgames. All tactics have multiple purposes.
