I've recently installed project m on Wii U and was wanting to get some new alternate costumes but I've run into a problem. When I go into private/wii/app/rsbe there is an st folder but no pf folder! Is there anything I can do to fix this?

P:M uses the "sd>projectm>pf>etc." directory layout

I tried to use that project m folder before but it caused my game to freeze and make a really loud buzzing noise when I attempted to use the character I got the costume for

to add to my problem, each fighter folder only contains what I believe are the pac files for the costumes added

for example the folder called Donkey only contains the following:
FitDonkey.pac
FitDonkey06.pac
fitDonkey06.pcs
FitDonkeyMotionEtc.pac

where are the other costume files?

anything not in the character folder just loads the default data from the disk. have you tried only adding one at a time? and may i ask what costume(s) you're trying to load? if it's something really high poly, project m won't like it too much

I'm trying to add the Funky Kong v3 skin found on brawl vault but I want to be sure it works because as I said earlier when I attempted to install another skin over snake(the deadpool skin from brawl vault), it caused the game to freeze/buzz when I attempted to play using that costume

that's not a folder layout issue. Don't jump to conclusions that because it's in "projectm" means it freezes.
You could've easily just named the file wrong or, better yet, the skin isn't compatible with P:M (an unlikely case but possible)

As Skye said, any files you don't see in any "fighter" folder means it uses the default brawl file.
