Smash Cadet
This doesn't really have much to do with tournaments, but it says that strategies can go here also, so...
I'm probably the best or second best in my circle of friends, but I want to eventually go online. So, I want to make sure I'm doing stuff right. My mains are ROB, Pit, Toon Link, and Pokemon Trainer {Ivysaur > Squirtle > Charizard when it comes to my skill with them}. Sub mains are Falco and Olimar, but I rarely use them. Here's my strategies so far:
ROB:
~Abuse aerials. Do a quick approach with Fair, and get away. Engage in combat in the air. Use FSmash and DSmash to clear room on the ground.
~Use Laser whenever. Charge Gyro and use when I remember. I stay away from his Rotor Arm, though.
~Nair anybody who comes near me in the air who I don't want to.
~A little bit of Dair mindgames, though those don't work so well.
~FSmash, Bair, and Dair are all finishers. Fair works well too at higher percentages. Dair is used as a spike.
Pit:
~Use Arrows, but don't spam them.
~Play defensively.
~Angel Ring occasionally.
~Use Mirror Shield when projectiles are being spammed.
~Fair and Bair for solid hits. Uair works well for comboing at low %s.
~FSmash to clear room. Utilt when on ground for foes.
~Pursuit in air to finish.
Toon Link:
~Play balanced, but geared more towards offense.
~If being left alone, charge arrows or take out a bomb.
~Use boomerang and bombs as spacers. If foe is knocked far away, use arrows to hurt them more.
~Don't spam Dair. If I miss I get punished, and I don't want to be one sided.
~Fair and Bair are both great for air attacks. All but Nair are, actually.
~If in sudden death, BOMBS. They work just well enough to KO. Boomerangs give me time to take them out or to space myself.
~Dair to spike, but not too much. I don't want to SD.
~FSmash for finisher, though I should be able to work it out with aerials.
~Zair helps my spacing game just a little.
Pokemon Trainer:
{Ivysaur}
~Platform pressure with Ivysaur.
~Attack with Fair for approach.
~Bair is weak, but has almost no drawbacks.
~Platform pressure with Bullet Seed. Use Bullet Seed for high-jumpers.
~Razor Leaf is a good, spammable projectile.
~FSmash is awesome.
~Use Uair and Bair when possible, but don't spam or overdo it.
~Grab stuff.
{Squirtle}
~Wall of fence with Bair and Fair.
~Dair at low percentages.
~Charge Watergun when possible, but stay away from B moves for offense, except maybe Withdraw for getaway.
~SPAM USmash for the kill.
~Stay in the air.
{Charizard}
~Use Fair a lot.
~Bair for reliable kill, though sort of hard to land.
~Uair and Utilt for juggles.
~DSmash to clear.
~FSmash ONLY when needed.
~Glide for recovery.
~Bair for spike.
~Grab stuff.
