I've been working on this for a few days now but I haven't been able to grasp it, can some explain how to shine grab? And how you learned it or what the easiest way to do it is?

-Thanks

The way it feels to me, I jc grab by pressing my jump and z botton at the same time. But when I shine jc grab, I do a piano like input with my jump and z button.

I actually have a question about shine grab too funnily enough, I got the grab from a shine grab even after the shine connected. Is that just a result of being frame perfect or is it reliant on them SDIng in or what?

I haven't analyzed in an ordered way, but there are some factors that influence it
1. (S)DI in when you hit
2. How you spaced yourself during the shinegrab
3. Weight of the character. I get a lot of these on Falcon more than anyone else
4. If they tried to jump out of shield

I tend to shinegrab a lot more on the ledge because if I hit with either a nair or shine, I have time to transition through grab ending lag to edgeguard mode. But that situation is really conducive to the DI that makes it happen.

Shine grabs are pretty easy to do all you do is Shine, JC (Jump Cancel), Then grab right before you jump. Just practice the timing and you'll get it in no time.

Do you know what characters can/can't be shine grabbed?

You mean that they can be shinegrabbed even if the shine hits? Afraid I don't. I've never been one to study those super specific things unless I needed it for some application. The situation came up against Marth a lot last weekend and none of them turned into a shinehit>grab, so take that as an anecdote.

You can running shinegrab a great deal of the cast including chars that fall from shine, but that's rarely a good idea in neutral so I wouldn't advocate trying it.

Yeah that's true. To give an example I'm pretty sure that Marth, Sheik, Falco, and Falcon can all be shine grabbed, but I don't think Luigi, Mewtwo, or Jiggz could be. I could be wrong, but with their weight I don't think so.

You can't jump out of shine a few frames after you let go of b (about 15) so practice by holding down and b, then quickly do a jc grab as normal. Then just shorten the time between the shine and the jc grab till its fast. Remember the faster you grab during the jumpsquat the faster the grab comes out! Try to get nearly frame perfect with this, don't lazily go from jump to grab as you might be losing out on grabbing people's shields.

As for shine grabbing and having both shine and grab connect, it's much like shine upsmash, notice when you're running and you jump, you slide a bit before you leave the ground. So run, shine,(you'll slide a bit) jump (still sliding) then jc grab or jc usmash. You'll be more likely to get both hits in this case. However I don't think either of these are terribly practical.

Also don't forget that you can turnaround in shine! Try shine turnaround grabs/upsmashes. Might get you out of a tough spot when you're in shield/get harder punishes!
