I replaced Toon Link with Young Link and I want to change the announcer call, too. Now, I got the one from Melee from sounds resource, and I tried to use Super Sawnds. I got a brand new smashbros_sound.brsar and this is what I did:
1. Went into Super Sawnds and inserted the PM 223.sawnd.
2. Went down to characall folder and selected Toon Link's call
3. I changed the input file to be the Young Link call wav file.
4. I clicked replace
5. I tested the sound and the replacement was successful within the brsar
6. I clicked "Create sawnd."
7. I replaced the old 223.sawnd with the new 223.sawnd that was generated by Super Sawnds.

The game freezes after the title screen with the Smash and PM logo.

Try recreating the .sawnd again. Sometimes the export will come out with a much larger filesize than it should causing freezes.

I had a similar problem when making my own announcer for friend. The character call should be the same length if not shorter an the original. Also the size of the .wav should be around the same too, pop that sucker in audacity and normalize it and change the project rate (hz) lower to like 16000, it'll decrease the quality but make it smaller, you won't notice the quality difference in game since it is not a music file. Hope this works, did for me

Hmm, tried that, and for some reason the sawnd file it made didn't replace Toon Link.
Note: I didn't put it into the Wii, I just got a new brsar and inserted the sawnd file.
