Because PM doesn't have lightshields, does that mean you can light press the shoulder buttons to powershield?

Powershielding still requires a full press input to work. If you are using the wifi set then light press will be able to powershield (as the game doesn't know the difference).

As for helping, with the ability to customize control schemes, you can set one of your unused jump buttons to shield which will always register as a full press, making is much easier to powershield in general.

Really? I'm glad it was implemented that way. So it won't **** up people's muscle memory from Melee-> PM or for when you guys get lightshields working.

I've only ever landed one power-shield in my entire life, and it was an epiphanous moment.

I used to think power shielding was impossible to do intentionally, but after one training session I can now get at least one per match against Rob's laser.

Unless I was doing it wrong the whole time, I find PSing to be much easier in this game than melee and I can actually rely on it as a part of my strategy against characters with predictable projectiles (pk fire, pk freeze, boomerang, falco's lasers, etc).

You have to make sure you have the shield button fully pressed and held. But you could also reset the controller to disable the light press if you don't want to fully press down on shield.

I tried setting X to shield once and I couldn't powershield if I tapped X within the 4 frame window. I had to make sure the button was fully held. Or who knows, maybe I was doing it wrong, but as soon as I switched to making sure the button was fully held, I was powershielding/reflecting consistently when I wasn't at all.
