Help with olimar

Hey guys, I was playing with my friend the other day and I could trash him with just about every character until he started using Olimar. I just couldn't get close. When I tried to get close, he used a lot of throws, which got to me because they were as fast as normal grabs, but they had range, so they could grab me out of my attack animations, and if they got shielded it was a free shieldgrab. I was trying to find a way out of it, but the best way I could find was just to use bombs that might damage him out of it, which worked maybe about a third of the time. When I tried to back off and missile/zair spam him, he just ran underneath most of it (zair is HARD to land on a running Olimar :/) and then just outprioritized me when he got close. I'm honestly at a loss for what to do. Does anyone have good experience with fighting Olimar?

Fighting a good Olimar is near hopeless for Samus. Samus can only beat Olimar while he's airborne. A grounded olimar is a solid diamond wall (Samus can easily destroy a brick wall) waiting to pwn Samus. My advice is to stay above Olimar (even though being above your foe is the worst decision anyone could make in ssbb), this job is a lot easier with platforms. Olimar has to take to the skies if he wants to damage you. His aerials don't have much range, so punish him after he misses. A good Olimar stays standing/walking so he can use his "360 degree" range of attacks. If they run, you can get behind him or attack from a diagonal. These are his open spots. That's all I can think of now... I need some sleep -_-
