Help with netplay lag

Hey, I was trying to play melee netplay with my friend, that lives in the same city as I, but it was too laggy.
Does anyone knows how to reduce this lag?
P.s.:both of us have a 50mb internet plan

Do you or your friend play on a wired connection?

I don't know anything about Dolphin. That's all of the advice I can give

If you 2 live in the same city, why not travel a little to play each other? Or was this a test?

ok this is a sh*tpost as i have absolutely nothing to contribute since i rarely play netplay
but would you say that you have to cope with the lag?

We are both using wired connection.
About no playing personally, it is because ee dont live that close, so is not that usual that we can olay ot on the gamecube
