I downloaded the latest nrage plugin specified on the troubleshooting thread and so I'm in the controller input setup and I'm having difficulty setting the buttons. My USB adaptor and controller were plugged in before I opened Project64k, but I find it difficult to set the right buttons, it seems to just give me a random number 0-15. I followed the instructions on that thread of things to turn off. Any help would be appreciated.

I've ruled out the controller has a short in it, because when I set the buttons to be messed up it still went crazy on the menu. Would having it plugged in when my laptop boots up help?

Thanks!

you need to use a different controller if it does that to you

the controller itself has nothing wrong with it...has something to do with the control stick? its weird

If it's the PSX/N64 adapter thing, it might help to plug in a PSX controller too, even though you don't use it. It works for me.

So you mean that when you set the A button, it isn't the right button in game etc.?

Normally the buttons on your controller are each assigned to a number. So when you set a button, it's not going to say A, B, Start, etc. But 1, 2, 15... As long as they buttons work right it should be okay. Like MR says, you should try plugin in a PSX controller as well if you have the N64/PSX adaptor.

Crap, I don't wanna buy a PSX controller, I never had one. It has a switch so theoretically it should be fine right? Also, the buttons register, it's just hard for me to configure them...

Um...you really shouldn't be seeing letters in your configuration. It should all be button 0-15...

Not true. If you're using a N64 controller Jabo makes it very difficult to use. If you're using anything else like PSX, Gamecube, or 360 etc, it works fine.

It does that for me too...I have no idea what to do

I need help...I have the USB adapter (sumoto) and I have a N64 Controller (yobo gameware) and I plugged it in. Project64k recognizes it but it wont let me configure it. Whenever I click the button to configure it, it automatically goes to "joypad" right or 1 (it doesn't give me the 6 count like it does for the keyboard).....and when I get some of the controls down, when I play the game, it goes crazy

I personally use Jabo's controller pluggin with my PSX/N64 adapter. make sure your stick isn't pushing the buttons when you try to configure them. Also make sure to calibrate your controller.

It happened to me with my controllers when I first ordered it and I couldn't move the control stick up or down, although the buttons worked fine. I asked the seller for a replacement, twice, and now the third one he gave me works well with all of my controllers without any need for a PSX one plugged in. It's a defect with the adapter, but I do know that ones do exist that don't have that issue. I'm not sure if its a newer model or something, but if you can't get it to work and if its not too much hassle, it may be worth asking for a new one.
