brawl will most likely come with a firmware update so you might want to be careful not to update your wii with that update unless your copy of brawl is the same region as your wii (ntsc-usa, ntsc-*** or pal). bricking a wii means wrecking your wii and making it as fun and useful as a brick, if you do update for any reason with a game from another region what will happen is that your wii settings menu will be inaccesible giving you simply an opera browser error and what you must do then is update with a game FROM YOUR WII'S REGION that is newer than the game that semi-bricked your wii (which is the term for a wii with blocked settings menu) and that also has an update so you get the new firmware to overwrite the firmware that semi-bricked your wii (if you semi-brick your wii with brawl, that is if brawl has indeed an update, you'll probably have to wait a while until a new game with a new update comes out so be very careful), with a semi-bricked wii you can still play games the problem is your wii settings.

I hope this cleared your doubts.

You don't know what it means to brick your Wii.. But you are going to solder a mod chip..

Aahahahaha. You're doomed.

95% chance you end up getting it bricked with updates within a year.

If it has an update you need to run brick blocker on the iso, then reburn it. Which you can't do if you actually bought the game, which I'm assuming you aren't given you can illegally download it. Do some research using the most powerful tool on the web - google - and you can get all the answers you need without bothering anyone here.

If you can't download it, you most likely can't play it. Unless you have a specific LG DVD-Burner which can rip Wii games. You arn't going to be able to bypass the update which will brick your Wii.

Every single major Nintendo release has had one. Metroid, Super Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy, WiiFit.

You can hope though.

This isn't really a chatroom, you could just edit your posts instead of making a whole new post just to add 1/2 words, y'know.

Also, If Brawl comes with a firmware update after you mod your Wii, you might have some trouble, I doubt it's worth trying, just wait a couple of weeks, I assume you're in the US anyway. If you're in the UK like me.. well.. wait for a release date to be announced or import a JPN Wii.

i was reading up on the Wiinja (http://www.wiinja.com/index.php). It's supposed to be soldered onto your DVD part of the Wii, so it wouldn't interfere with the updates "identifying" the mod chip.

The latest version of the Wiinja is the "Wiinja Deluxe". Go to the site and read the forums and the features that it has. I'd recommend it. I'm getting my Wii modded. It'll play all NTSC JAPANESE/USA games. Even burned copies (backups) of both GameCube and Wii titles.

again, that's http://www.wiinja.com/index.php

If you have a wiikey or any other mod chip that also supports updates then the wiikey people will pobably release an update of their own so you can run brawl with no problem, you just have to be patient, and don't forget that if you put a disc that contains an update that is not for your wii's region don't accept the firmware update that is being offered, this is a common mistake people do for not reading what is being told in the message box and just hitting the A button to continue, if the message is in japanesse then be observative look at the sign that indicate that that is a firmware update and just remove the disc without accepting.

As someone said before is better to run every copy that is not of your region with wiibrickblocker 1.3.

Remember that is better that your wii has the latest firmware from your region so you don't have to worry about updates if the games containing them are from your wii's region.

Lastly, someone adviced you look for it in google, this is also a good idea, It was very helpful to me when I needed to learn about this stuff.

I hope I helped you.

You're so clueless :/

When using a downloaded version of the japanese brawl just make sure you:

1. Have the latest firmware on your wii.
2. Use WiiBrickBlocker on your .iso (which will try to prevent updating through the game disc)
3. Use RegionFrii (which will change your game regio code, thus giving another firmware update, which not bricks your wii)

And you're free to go.
