I'm thinking about using Meta Knight as my main...but I have no idea how to control the glide...

Can anyone explain it to me? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

this is using the gamecube control:

use up+b. you now start gliding. Tilt the control stick in a certaing direction to control whether or not u want to go up or down. For example, you find yourself gliding to the left. Tilt in the opposite direction (right) to go up. Tilt in the same direction to go down.
Another way to glide:
jump, press the jump button again, but hold it down. Meta Knight starts gliding. This type of gliding, in my opinion, offers more maneuverability than the up+b gliding.
If you really want to glide well, i can only say one thing though: practice

go to hyrule and practice gliding, start on one side with the jump glide then go all the way across and back without touching the ground, when you can do that you know how to glide

When you start a glide, remember to go down first. Going up will cancel your glide pretty quickly. Gain altitude by going down first, then up. you should be able to gain altitude and speed pretty quickly. Hitting a ceiling as you glide is fine. All it does is eat up speed. Crashing into the ground, on the other hand, cancels your glide, so you want to avoid that. If you want to land, either cancel the glide (b does it I think) or with a glide attack before you hit the ground. It cuts down your landing lag like crazy.

As for practice, try gliding under battlefield first. Go from one edge to the other. Then try going to one edge and back without touching the other edge. Metaknight gets two glides, so that is possible. Once you can do that, you are pretty good at gliding. Final Destination is a bit more of a challenge as you have less room to maneuver under it.

But that's easy mode.

HARD MODE
Start at the left upper part of hyrule. Jump off and do a complete counterclockwise circle of the entire stage without touching the ground. When you can do that you know how to glide.

Thanks guys, I've been trying some of these tips and I've been getting a lot better at gliding. I still need to work on it a lot more though (obviously). You guys have helped a lot. :D

I love the caps lock hard mode. I've been gliding so long now it's so easy.

@OP: Just practice. It eventually just becomes really easy to be accurate and do tricks.
