I personally try my best in Ultimate but I can never really get the hang of timing attacks and looking at others attacks to time dodges and such (I saw on a reddit post for beginners that you should stick to looking at your character all of the time and look at enemy players with your unfocused vision, is this true?)

In ssb5 i currently play Link, Toon Link, Isabelle, ZSS, and Sonic. Some other characters that I would like to get better with are Pichu, Ryu, and Kirby.

Please, give me some tips!
Also, I am very much a noob as I get killed by :ultkrool: a lot lol.

You should probably start with some easier characters like Pit/Dark Pit. A lot of the characters you play are projectile, setup, and campy based playstyles which is fine, but ultimate is more aggressive than smash 4 so it's hard for beginners to use those characters. Once you choose an all rounder for starting out, and then moving back once you get your fundamentals down is probably your best bet. ZeRo made a video for beginners, and he could 100% explain it better than me for what you should be learning first so I will link it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs3ir7VWdik&t
