HELP WITH FINDING A MAIN!

I`m new to smashboards as well as competetive melee itself, and i am looking for a main to focus on. I want a character that is fun to use as well as a somewhat underused character that is still viable. Thanks!

Fun depends kind of on what you feel about the characters. I think the most fun characters tend to be the most played, regarding the top 8 characters

Top tiers can be fun if you want to master certain techniques or combos. It really just comes down to playstyle. Experiment with every character in the A and S tier if you want, any character can work. You could be the next big thing lol

Marth is a great fundamental character to learn and he's pretty fun to play and combo with. I think Doctor Mario and Pikachu is somewhat underused and still viable though. Doctor Mario is the Jack of All Trades character imo, but hey I could be wrong about that one. I think I honestly should main Doc as he makes the most sense for me to use along with Marth for consistency in my style of gameplay.

Yeah, Dr.Mario and Pikachu are characters that sound really fun to play with, and even Marth as well!

Please, test EVERY character out. Tiers aren't rules, they're standards.

It's generally advised to play one of the top 8, but even then they may not be right for you. But if you really want to be the next one to take a national, the top 8 are for you.

If you want to play an underused, but a relatively viable choice, then the A tier has the characters that you probably want to main.
