Help with Bracket Formating

I want to do a style of brackets that has it, so that even if you lose you still compete for the next placing. So 1st = no losses, 2nd = 1 loss, 3rd = 2 losses, etc.

I know how to format the brackets for up to 4 people, but not sure how to do it will any number of people past that or what one should do with an odd number of people.

Like a little help on figuring out how to do that would help.

Anything regarding this as a useless thread, etc. Stickies didn't help figure this problem out, this place has no Q&A thread, and not knowing the name of this kind of bracket style doesn't help any in trying to search threads.

that's a bit unorthodox.
i think you want a round robin tournament, where everyone plays everyone else. it should have the same effect as what you're looking for.

I would gladly use round robin, but I want to avoid the tie situation and be able to accuratly to the best I can declare this person is first place, this person is 7th place, etc. I also want to keep people playing, so that prevents me from using Elimination. So what I'm looking for is the cross between elimnation and round robin, I suppose.
