We want to make a Brawl Mod with some of the following features:
Balance the game
Add a few new characters
Add alternate costumes for some characters
Remove Tripping
Remove other glitches
etc.

We want this mod to stand out from other mods in some way. However, we need help to start this mod. Please leave a comment if you are interested or if you have ideas for this mod. Thank you!

This has been done many times before you, and will be done many times after you. All I can say at this point is not to risk it... However, since you seem determined, I would be glad to give some ideas!

If you want this mod to excel you're going to have to be different, this could be achieved by:

1. Making characters even floatier, and well as speeding up their attacks to allow insane combos
2. Giving characters lots of new moves
3. Making stages from scratch.
4. Change airdodges so that they aid your recovery, but put you in helpless. That way, it's not the same old wavedashing, but it's balanced
5. Give characters better throws
6. Fix trajectories on useless attacks
7. Nerf Greninja

I hope I helped, good luck on your project!

We've come to a point in brawl modding where modpacks are either
Original Brawl expanded upon its ideas (Example: Brawl+, take note this is the least popular route)
Make the game like another game in the series (Example: Project M)
Broken ass fun **** (Example: Brawl- and other PSAs like Mister God and Watch)
Huge character or stage packs that often put quantity over quality or balance (Example: BrawlEX)
Texture packs (Example: Smash 3)

If I were to make a modpack, I'd either make one that adds the hit effects and sounds that Smash 4 did to make everything more satisfying, or I'd make a broken fun **** modpack based around stuff like Project M 3.6 Giga Bowser and Wario Man, just insane transformations that expand upon the original ideas behind characters.

If you really wanna make one, do your research, get ideas, and get a staff. most importantly, learn your tools. I would never make the modpacks I listed because I apparently screw up something as basic as reversing the trajectories on PM Captain Falcon's hitboxes. It crashed upon loading and now I'll never find out how I messed up trickster god falcon.

some modpacks that will probably accept your help if you're competent enough: Smash Reborn, Project Reality, Brawl Minus, and Project M. Interestingly, Project M seems to be willing to add mods made by non-staff members, as I got the Wii ROB mod, before Wii ROB was added to vanilla Project M. Perhaps if you make something good enough they'll approach you about it?

I think that if you want to excel in a mod pack, you have to find a way to deviate from what other people are doing, while still giving them something that they want, or that they wouldn't be hesitant to give it a chance with.
I, for example, have been working towards making my mod a competitive one combine the best elements from each game, while adding in new concepts, characters, stages, gameplay designs, all while not being afraid to incorporate gimmicks that most people wouldn't include (like Luigi's new Up-Smash) . This would mean that while some of the specific approaches that I am taking have been used, you can still find different ways to make your mod unique.
Maybe your gimmick could be adding in a bunch of characters (make sure to give them unique movesets), because for me, despite the amount of control I have, I don't want to overload my game with useless characters, or huge masses of characters in general, which, in turn, means that this gives you an opportunity to take advantage of this.
You could be the one to add in people like Slippy Toad, Daisy, Shadow Mario, Mr.Popo, Grey Fox, Pichu, and Mr.Game&Watch.Jr.

I hope that you do well with this project!

I want to combine 1 and 4 actually. Make a expanded Brawl with some Sm4sh ideas and have a lot of quality custom characters/stages. (PM Quality or better)

I am working on a new mod called Smash Reborn. It's all-new, and if anyone would like to check it out, let me know.

@ TimSin TimSin if you want to collaborate with my project, let me know. I could use somebody with a creator's mindset (besides from me, of course).
Smash Reborn seems very cool. I'll definitely take time in my schedule to play it. ^_^

Well if you're gonna do that prioritize substance first over style, at least until you've modified the entire roster of characters. and again this is ambitious. What notable features did you have in mind? details like this can attract a staff and make the project seem more professional

Hmm... I don't have many ideas yet. My friend and I are still coming up with ideas. Well, we want to balance characters without really giving new moves, we want to make most or all stages competitive legal (ex. No Blocks or Bombs in Green Greens), and other changes.
