hey guys, i want to play samus vs icies..
how do i play this match up effectively on FD?

if anyone can give me some insight into this match up on FD that would be great. what is the goal on the stage?

how do i deal with ice blocks in neutral. i cant seem to trade with any of my moves that are quick? Do i just missile them?

In neutral am i suppose to just missile and force them in shield and start wearing down the shield. i know d throw separates. but i don't know much about this match-up. any advice would be helpful.

(Take what I sasy with a grain of salt, but) How I play the matchup, especially on FD, is poke with wd -> ftilt/jab frequently, and dsmash at every given vulnerability. Ftilt and Dsmash effectively splitting Popo and Nana up, and of course getting rid of Nana is top priority.

There's not an easy way to deal with their ice shooty things, don't jump too often if they're near though because they can capitalilze on it. I personally don't missile any more than I do in other matchups, especially on FD.

dsmash is gonna get you grabbed and wobbled, unspaced jab you are gonna get grabbed, ftilt also can get grabbed if not spaced. Horrible advice no offense and you should rethink how to approach the MU

Ic blocks clank with bomb, bomb has 2 hitboxes one for each ice block to cancel out (shell hitbox of bomb then explosion that follows). Shoot missiles and wittle down their shield so stuff like dtilt (less dangerous to use than dsmash and better shield poking). Extendur is actually useful if you call out their double jumps or they are staying too grounded. If you can read a wd in grab, you can always just up b OoS to not get grabbed and seperates them pretty well. Going back to the ice blocks its less about what to do against the ice blocks but what the ICs are trying to do with the ice blocks or what they are trying to do after using ice blocks. If they are using them to go in with a grab, then you should jump backwards and missile to catch the wd in grab, if they are just spamming them to build up dammage, bomb then roll backwards and missile then charge up your blaster which puts them on the immediate defensive. If they are just using desycned ice blocks you can jsut low angle ftilt them away until they commit to something else.

IC's is a weird matchup. Both Samus and IC can pretty much destroy each other with one opening. IC's don't have very many ways to deal with missile and once Samus splits them up with a Dsmash or Dtilt, Samus should be able to take them out. Samus can hold a lead very well. On the flip side, Samus has almost nothing safe on IC's shield. It is very easy for IC's to punish any unsafe move samus throws out, so you have to be very careful.

FD is the hardest stage in this matchup. Missile is the simplest way to keep them out, as they can't really approach that well with missile coming at them. Bomb is underrated in this matchup, as IC's cant go around it easily and it can ruin their shield, snuffing run up shield approaches. Be careful with it though, as bomb is still very unsafe if used at the wrong time. Samus's grab is actually good against IC's since they are such a grounded character. Again, its still very unsafe, so don't throw it out stupidly.

Things like missile to Dair or grab are mix ups you can try. I've found ledge shenanigans to work well if the IC doesn't know the matchup or does unsafe options. Ftilt is generally safe is spaced far enough and its more forgiving than other moves if you misplace it.
It's a very touch and feel matchup. When I play, I try to focus on keeping IC's out and away and not doing anything unsafe. One bad Dsmash, missed upB, or dumb ledge option and it can easily mean big damage or death. On other stages you have platforms as a sort of safety net, so on FD you just have to be that much more careful.

Litt Litt I agree with most of what you said, but dtilt is -25 on shield and thus very unsafe

ofc, your goal with dtilt should be to shieldpoke, but unless you're confident that it'll hit, it's not a great idea either

Thats the point, but a dtilt has enough push back if they dont sheild Di towards and down (which guards the shield poke and stops as much of the knock back) but the majority of players don't which makes dtilt relatively safe to use when spaced

Also neutral you should be watching how the ICs deal with your missiles, if they are just letting them hit shield, you are going to get very easy dtilt shield pokes. Same for run up UP b on their shield to try and separate on stages aside from FD.
