Smash 3DS Help setting up a Wifi hotspot for my 3DS

Wifi hotspot may not be the right word for this, and this may be th wrong section but...

Hello, I'm asking for advice setting up a wifi hotspot for my 3DS.

My room is far, far away from the Wifi in my house. My PC, consoles, etc are all connected through the internet through an ethernet cable running under the floor. So far, I haven't used my 3DS online much because doing so requires me to leave my PC and talking to my friends through Teamspeak, etc. It's really inconvenient and has left me not using my 3DS online much if at all. I want that to change.

I have an old laptop that so far seems to be completely incompatible with wifi tethering/sharing programs, and my PC does not have a wireless card. Using the android wireless program is also useless to me.

I'm looking into buying some kind of hardware to plug into my PC in order to share an internet connecting with my 3DS (and only my 3DS) but I don't know where to start. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'm looking for something relatively inexpensive, that still gives me a good internet connection for gaming.

I've been thinking about buying a WiFi repeater, it's like a wall outlet that takes the WiFi signal and re sends it out from that location, causing the WiFi to be stronger near you. Hope this helped you with some ideas

Thanks. i don't think I'll be using that since the wifi in my house is terrible to begin with, but at least it's something to think about.

So it looks like my plan is to get a cheap wifi router and hook it up to the netbox in my room. Anyone have a similar setup?
