Help replacing Roy's costumes

I was under the understanding that any Marth costume can work over Roy, so I tried to replace Roy with Trueblade Mia. However the game freezes if I try to select Roy and makes a buzzing noise. The only thing I did was replace the .pac and .pcs files. I was using the Wo Dao version if it matters.

The file size limits for Roy's files are smaller than those of Marth, and those costumes, being designed for Marth, exceed Roy's limits. Open the files up in BrawlBox, and scale the textures down to about half, and they should work.

How exactly do I scale the textures down? Do I have this right?:

Say I open the FitMarth00.pac. I see a folder named Textures I assume I go to. Under that I see names like "Sheath", "Mia_Arms", "Mia_Hair", etc. Right clicking them most options are just to move them, rename them, etc so I'm guessing I choose "Re-Encode"? Once here, is it the literal size I want to scale down by half? I.e. change Mia_Arms from 256x512 down to 128x256? And that'll work/ won't make it look weird in game? And I have to do it to each individual texture in every alt color to both pcs and pac right?

That's it. Unfortunately there's no quick way, but you can just do one of each pac/pcs pair, and then choose "save as pair", which will save the changes to both the pac and pcs files.

Edit: Alright I've done that with only the default costume so far, but its working now, thanks!

Do you know if SFX files made for Marth can work over Roy as well? If I were to download the Mia SFX pack on the vault for Marth and rename it, will it work for Roy's voice?
