I've been challenged to a $1 Marth dittos by our 3rd best local player (based off our local PRs.) I'm very nervous about this match as there's a lot of hype in the local group and I'm not sure if I can keep a positive and calm mentality about this match.

Tl;dr I've been challenged to a money match and it's hard to keep calm. Help?

The only advice I can give is to think of it like a normal game of friendlies. It's only a dollar, so you won't lose too much if the game goes South. It would also be good to embrace the hype and just get super excited for the match. Hype is one of the greatest things about this community, and being at the center of it is an honor imo. Being nervous is completely fine, but try and go in confident. I recently found a way to boost my confidence, and I've been winning a lot more. I even came in 3rd at a local, which is good for me. Before, I'd usually be knocked out in round 4 of losers. Just walk in, thinking "I'm gonna beat this guy," because any thoughts of losing will screw up your whole game. Hope this helps! :)

Try money matching people outside of your locals before you actually play him. Doing this will get you used to feeling the pressure of money matches in the same way were if you get nervous before playing In a band for a concert, playing in more concerts will get you to not feel as nervous. This also works with phobias, exposing yourself a little bit at a time can make it less bad.
