First you would need brawlbox which you can download here
Next you would download a fresh common5.pac here
Now open the file go to sc_character and inside that is char_bust_tex_lz77 and inside that are all the CSPs
Hope that helped

Take a snapshot of your texture in-game. Then, decrypt the snapshot on your computer. Afterwards, use an image editor to modify the snapshot.

By the way, is the common5.pac link here PAL or NTSC?

Ah.
It keeps freezing, and I deleted the pokemon motion packs...
I only tried to replace two csps (mario and captain falcon)
from a texture pack
(master chief and dr. mario)
do I need a code or something?

When you replaced the portraits, did they cause the file size for sc_selcharacter.pac to increase? That file can't be larger than 3.79 MB.

Open common5.pac in brawlbox and replace the sc_selcharacter.pac with the one you made. Put the modified common5 in the system folder. Then put the sc_selcharacter.pac into Menu2 folder. That is what fixed it for me.

If you use Gecko, use sc_selcharacter.pac. If it's in your common5.pac, you can extract it to your "menu2" folder. If you use Riivolution, use the common5.pac, but add an _en at the end of common5 for it to work.

Where is this menu2 folder?
Also, when I open common5.pac,
the file inside it is named common5_en, while the others also have _en, should I rename it without _en? (No Riivolution, only gecko)

"menu2" is in the "pf" folder. If you don't have one, you can always create the folder.
As for common5.pac, I left the names inside alone. You can also remove the 2 MotionEtc.pac files that are in it to reduce the common5 filesize. IDK why the programmers put 2 extra MotionEtc.pac's (2 of the Pokemon Trainer's Pokemons).

oh thanks! Now I can do battle portraits a while ago.
Let me see if I can do CSPs.
Also, how do you change item textures without using common3? or you can't?

Assist Trophies and Pokemon have folders in the "item" folder. For other items (beam sword, bat, boxes, etc.), you'll need a common3.pac
