Help on approaching

Alright, I need help on approaching Sheik. Any time I SHL it just turns into a needle/SHL war, and doesn't really go anywhere. Then, whenever I do a Dair I always get shield grabbed. I know I'm L-canceling it perfectly, it's just that I get shield grabbed before I hit the ground. I'm fast falling too, so what else should I use to approach? I try the SHL -> shine or SHL to grab, but the shield just stays up and I get grabbed before I hit the ground to shine or grab. So what can I do?

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
You're not doing dair-> shine correctly if you're getting shield grabbed. SHL is faster than needles, so you should win that war. Be patient against Shiek, keep control with SHL and then approach with a properly shffled nair or dair into shine when you need to.

there is a point in the shield that you are supposed to hit so when you fast fall and l cancel it would be perfect. =O so if you hit to low on the shield you could suck at the l cancel, or if you hit to high you can get grabbed.

If you miss your l-cancels often, as I do, the biggest thing to help decrease your changes of being shield grabbed is to land your shffl behind their shield. Dair > shine while behind them and it's all good.

Also, SHL is the best approach. Ever. Stop Sheik from charing needles by shooting her whenever she does. If she manages to charge them and throw them, just as Wesley says, SHL should win if you're fastfalling and moving towards them.

don't adjust your game to account for missing l-cancels or you will never start hitting them. Play as though you will hit all l-cancels and eventually you will have to start hitting them.
I never thought of that...Its genius!

what I'm saying is that if you think you're fast falling and l-canceling and shining perfectly and you're getting shield grabbed, you're wrong, nuff said.

and vro, landing shffls behind their shield is fine, but it can't always be done, so you shouldn't alter your game to account for failing l-cancels. Instead you should, you know, not fail l-cancels.

So it's not possible to be shield grabbed before I hit the ground? The way I practice is putting starman on high and playing against a level 1 cpu, then I practice pillaring.

exactly what the person above said - mindgames...try empty jumping or dashing/wavedashing around the sheik to mix up the player.

it's all about mix ups

*edit* also it sounds like your having the same problem i was always having which was doing dair too early. try not doing the dair until late into the sh and then when you do the fflc you should be able to get off the shine before anything

remember - shine>>>all, which is why space animals rule this game

That's it! I always hit like the very top of their shield and they grab me before I can hit the ground. Thanks a bunch, I'll do the Dair later on so it hits lower in the shield and so that I can shine faster.

Thank you again.

just shl and reverse shl around where sheiks needles come down when she jumps and does them. dance in and out of that range until you see an opening if they needle alot. throw in some dash dancing then when they let their gaurd down laser more and try to force them to mess up.

also nair to shine is alwyas a good approach. it like i get shield grabbed less when i do that. it still happens plenty playing drephen tho. you have to time the dair right so you dont get shield grabbed, and it's kinda hard to do every time. anyways you could also apporach their shield with a nair/dair to shine to jc grab if you know you timed the dair right or if just to mix it up.

uhh that's all i got.
