Help! Ness Troubles

So me and my friend have been playing Brawl for a long time and we loved it! His best was Toon LInk and mine was Lucario/Wolf. Our skill levels were almost the same. Soon, I began to gain the upper hand and went on a streak for a bit, however, due to some complications with communication, we were unable to fight again for another month or so. When we met again he told me that he had something special up his sleeve. I asked him what and he replied with "Project M." I heard about the mod before but never actually played it, so I was pumped when I went over to his house. I was decent and when I got home I downloaded the mod and fought CPU's. It was then that I decided to re-adopt Lucario as my best character picking up Mewtwo along the way. The next time we fought I guess you could say that I was pretty frustrated. :p My friend plays Ness and it's extremely annoying especially with his god forsaken PK Fire followed up with a grab and Ness' quick, powerful rush attack. I use Lucario's OHC system to my advantage, but it's just so… so… SO… ANNOYING!! :p Please, any help for defeating Ness will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You'll want to join in on the discussion on the Ness-specific boards for PM. As for dealing with Ness, just remember that one of his primary weaknesses is in his unorthodox and extremely gimpable recovery. You can stump the dude at like 0%.

Don't listen to this guy...Ness's recovery is definitely upper third of this game. However, PKfire is one of the hardest things to deal with at all levels (but especially low level). Luckily, there are a number of threads on the counterplay within the Ness character specific board.

But it's so stumpable. Granted it doesn't actually launch and nuke you on hit.

I play Ness, and between the initial hitbox on your body, the highly maneuverable pkt that can make really wide circles to delay his launch, his 10 frames of invulnerability on the first part of pkt 2 with unmatched knockback, the still powreful second half, the distance that surpasses firefox, the lagless landing lag if you pkt2 directly into the ground, and the longer pkt 1 tail that can catch people trying to eat his pkt1 and combo them with a pkt2 + the added effect of pkthunder barrier being easier than ever, I can assure you that he has a good recovery.

I'm not saying he has a poor recovery, just that a player simply nailing it with a projectile or even blocking the bolt with their own bodies can spell doom for Ness. Obviously a good Ness can keep the bolt away from that sort of danger, but, that's just my little experience with him. I've never seen too much Ness play.
