Alright, so here's some background info. I got my Wii in Christmas 2008, and picked up Brawl the day after. It works fine, and does to this day without problems.

Now, I have a Wii U as well, and the first thing I do is try to play Brawl. Things go smoothly, I play a match to see how it looks, and while I'm selecting my character for another match, the Wii U displays a "game disc cannot be read" error. I try again, same thing happens after a match, and sometimes even during the intro.

My problem is that I'm suffering the opposite of many people, where my copy of Brawl works just fine on my Wii but won't play for more than five minutes on my Wii U. So, can anyone assist me in my problem? Any advice is appreciated, I'll try to supply any details needed, and if this is not the proper board, I'm hoping mods will let me know on that.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm that's odd. There could just be a problem with your Wii U not reading doubled layered disc like brawl. (That seems like a stretch though so I wouldn't hold me to it.) Is there another copy of brawl you could try, like a friends?

I could always try to borrow a friend's copy, yeah. Are there any other dual-layered games I can test it with?

See that's why I said don't hold me on it lol. I'm not sure, you could try googling it. Also I would try a friend's copy if possible.
