Hey, I'm sorry to be adding yet another of these, but I'm kind of a noob at Fox. I haven't watched many of the other rate my fox threads so I don't really know where I compare, but I feel I'm just not very good at using him overall and could use some tips. I'm especially horrible at fighting other space animals. Plus I feel that for a fox player, I'm remarkably slow. One reason why I use the SLOW tag. I have a bunch of vids online here:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=slomo431

There's about 21 vids of me there. I thought it was a good mix since there's a decent variety of characters I played against. I win 6/8 against Marths, 3/9 against Falcos, 0/1 against Fox, 12/21 overall, just to kind of give you a hint at what would be the vids to watch. You probably shouldn't watch em all or you'll be sitting there for the better part of an hour.

Thanks in advance to anyone that offers their advice, and try not to be too mean. Keep it constructive.

tch seeing someone from HRP i thought this was gonna be a flame.

there are a buncha things u need to work on.
*Lasering
*Predictability
*Using move effectively

Lasering
I barely saw u laser at all. One of foxes hugest assets is tht he can force his oponent to aproch him. U dont always hav to charge him with a running up smash of full jump drill. Shoot him.

Predictability
Try not to do the same movement trick 5 times in a row in one run. its really predictable and can be punished by any player who is decently skilled.

Move Selection
As lean already said, dont attack people in the air with a shine unless its a shine spike. its not maximizing the damage u culd be dealing.

Keep working on ur fox im sure inna bout 2 weeks if u apply my tips u'll be decent.

I think THN got most of the main points down, shine less, laser more. As a shine substitute, try more sh nairs, or against falcos I think full hop nairs work better. Nairs do more damage, and if they are low on damage, you can usually combo space animals with it.

OK, i started by wathcing a marth match, then falco, then the fox match. it dawned on me during the fox match. You seem to be in much the same predicament as i: You (might) have the most tech skill, but you get owned by every strategy. You can perform every flashy movement trick and shine combo there is(?). You lost that fox ditto (even though you had better placement and timing of attacks) because he picked the better thing to do at any given "clash" you daired, he naird. You naired, he utitls. You illusion, he shinespikes. He's seeing what you are doing, and picking the right course of action to counter it. It seems to me that you need better choice of attacks and better usage of flashy movement.

During the falco match, you jumped toward his lasering w/ a shine. This is either the wrong attack to use, or the wrong way to use it. Either full hop (fast fall) a nair, or jump shine 1/2 way between your start and him, double jump and nair (fast fall), or jump and shine right in front of him, shine turn-around, and immediately bair.

I also suggest watching your vids again, and checking to see what owns you, why it owns you, and then what to do about it. Check to see if you have any patterns that you follow that seem good at the time, but then you watch on video and they seem bad or get you owned. For instance, i compulsively ledgehop dairs: i either hit with it, or i die (usually, connecting w/ a drill kick doesn't kill them so it's a bad trade). I watched vids of me playing, and i do this when it is a good time to, and i do this when it's obviously the wrong time to (there not there, their waiting for it, etc...). Just watch vids of you losing, and identify paterns in your playstyle.

Once you've done this, watch some more vids (of either your opponents outsmarting you, or pro matches: the fc3 crew matches were a good source) and follow a character. Try to think through the match what you would do, and figure out what they are thinking.

Hope this helps

I watched the marth matches.I noticed that you were getting predictable. On the battlefield match don't try to fight marth on the edge unless you know how to shine him off correctly.so use more lasers and work on being less predictable and you'll do better next time.

if you're going to take all that time to run far, far, away please shoot some lasers. In the Roy match you probably could have added a good 40 percent with lasers. Also, in the Roy match, you full jumped a lot of times for no reason at all. Devise tactics that will minimalize lag in your attack strategy while at the same time not being too predictable.

I noticed that during the Fox match from 0:52-0:55, 1:59-2:02, you were hanging on the ledge, falling down, then jumping back up to grab the ledge a couple times. It wouldn't help that much but it would look flashier if you did the Firefox stall instead of just dropping and jumping. Other than that, you just need to find different approaches. For example, there were a couple of times where your opponent was next to a platform and you were underneath it something like this:

platform
________________

opponent----------------------------you are here
__________________________________________________stage

(Sorry about the hyphens. I needed something to separate the words "you are here" and "opponent")
Instead of just dashing up to him and attacking, you could've jumped up on the platform, wavelanded towards the opponent so you drop off the platform and come down with an aerial attack. Note this is just an example and I'm not telling you to do this from now on. Just mix up your approaches and be creative. It's all part of the mindgames to keep your opponent guessing when and how you're going to approach.
