Hi I've been playing project for about a month and Im learning things like L canceling and I've been trying to wave dash but i cant do it consistently i dont know what to do also i play falco

Try doing it on luigi or some who is easier to do it on. Then try it on your main.

I find Characters like Fox and Ice Climbers are the easiest to do it on. Luigi is like one of the hardest for me.

Characters with low jump squats are harder to do since the inputs are quicker. Bowser is technically the easiest to wavedash with. But if you can wavedash with Fox, Sheik, ICs, Pika, Kirby, etc. (any character with a 3 frame jump squat) you can do it with anyone, including Falco.

See I find the faster the jump, the easier it is. I never miss Fox's or Icies. When its slow, I flub often.

Its probably cuz your like me in that we are use to the quicker jumpsquat wavedashes so when a slow jump squat wd is a factor we input the wavedash too fast so we flub. But technically slower jumpsquats are easier.
