Watch Wak's How To Play vids. Then read up on some Falco guides. Then watch some Falco matches. And in between, during, and after all of these things, practice!

Good luck.

Let's start with, literally, the basics.

1) When you get launched a good length, before you hit the ground, tap L or R to perform a "tech". Your Falco will recover instead of flopping on the ground. Hold left or right while tapping L or R to "tech roll".

2) Forward-B isn't a real combat move. Only use it to get back onto the stage. Stop using it when you're on solid ground.

3) Don't run up to your opponent and dash attack them.

4) Begin to edgehog. Y'know. Grab the ledge when they're coming back so that THEY can't. Super effective against Sheik, although it's harder aginst others.

5) Don't smash unless you know you're going to hit with it.

6) A large step in helping you to improve: Shieldgrabbing.

MISSED - 0:55, in the first Sheik video. Then, SUCCESS - look at 0:15 in the first Link video.

While your shielding, press "A". This is so incredibly crucial. Your opponents (assuming they're around your same skill level) will be punished to no end. You block, they're going to be thrown.

7) You roll way to much. You were punished many times. Don't start habits now.

8) Look up and take notes on ALL of these techniques:

Short-hopping, Fast-falling, L-Canceling, SHFFLing in general, teching, techrolling, wallteching, Short-hop-lasering (SHLing), Spikes + Meteors, shines, wavedashing, waveshining, wavelanding.

That's about it I guess. You seem to have some knowledge about how the game works, but there's a lot of improving to be done.

Study, study, study. The practice, practice, practice. I don't know how long you've been playing, but right now, you've got way too many bad habits. You need to learn as much as you can, as fast as you can, and break yourself of all your habits. Right now you show almost no advanced techniques, and extreme predictability. But don't worry, you did come to the right place if you want to get help.

From the looks of this match I would first suggest trying to get out of the habit of dodge rolling so much. Fast characters like Fox could chase you across the whole entire stage. Secondly learn to short hop laser. You don't need to do it as fast as the pro's, but this allows you to set up combo's alot easier. Use that shine and jump cancel as well they help tons with falco!

Got it.
Thanks for lending me a hand. I'm not the greatest player or anywhere near some people's skill level; but I'll keep working at it. =D
