I couldnt find a better title...but let me explain my problem by this little example!

I've seen this in a lot of pro-movies, but I'm still not able to master it by myself!

You knocked your enemy from the edge and he tries to recover with his up+B for example.
In this case I noticed many times that better players, jump from the edge as well towards the enemy and hit the enemy out of the field for good...
but then they are still able to recover to the edge!
and there is my problem!

when I try to do this, the lag of my down+A attack is that huge, that I'm not able to recover again!

Where's my mistake now? Am I not supposed to use down+A, do I need another attack to master this technique or whats wrong in my game???

THX in advance and sry for my rather bad english ;) I'm still learning!

Manzle i understand your problem so i am here to help. what i have seen most professional marth players do when an enemy is going to up b is ledge hop with a back air and usually tipping it in the process. This is one of the most successful way to edguard with marth since the back air has little lag so you can easily recover after ledgehopping with it.

what you are refering to is ledge spiking (i dont think there is a real name for that) which usually ends up failing if you do it wrong. The trick is to ledge hop, then down air (i prefer using the c stick for that) and then land on the stage (make sure you L-cancel too though just in case you miss the tip). it takes a bit of practice to get used to but i can be very useful against opponents who up b onto the stage cause they see you are ledgehogging. i find that it usually works best to do when the opponent is to your side rather tahn under you so you are hitting with the last part of the down air stroke.

hope that helps and if anyone can explain this better please do!

When I hit a person off the stage, I usually try to follow it up with a shield breaker off the stage and make it back, it's powerful and you can make it back on stage easily.

You can usually jump out to dair spike and recover without using the Dolphin Slash, provided you hit them early on. It helps a little bit if you use the C-stick so you don't accidentally fast fall.

Keep in mind that you don't have to use the dair to airguard. You can use a soft fair or a bair instead... Shield Breaker, like Salaad said, works too. Nair can also be used, if you have a good sense of timing.

Basically, you just have to kinda get a sense of how far out you can go. Usually you can go just a little farther than you think, so be bold!
