Help- Falco vs Link / Ylink

eh okay. I like to think i have a good Falco, lots of technical stuff, very good laser game (people hate me for being abusing the gayzer but hey i love doing the laser waltz) i've been focusing on my mindgames lately =)

Ive been playing a friend a lot lately and he plays fox, link and ylink. I can kick his fox's ***, but he gives me a really hard time with Link and ylink. He's been playing Link and Ylink since the game came out and he's really good with it.

He spams items like crazy and its very annoying and evades a lot too. I can control him on a stage like FD with lasers but on platforms stages he just keeps escaping my lasers (i can still hit him but the items are annoying).

Anyway, they are very close matches but I think my problem is that its really hard for me to kill him. I have to get him to high percentages where I can jab+smash and that would kill him

Why? because i hate that freaing Up+B recovery >___<. I have no idea how to edgeguard him i've tried so many things, i always get hit by it (also he usually throws items at me while he's on his way to the edge) and if he's coming from below well he sweetspots the edge and i can't hit him. If i try i get hit.

Ive been thinking about using the firefox stall to be invulnerable the second he's on his spin attack on the air and then roll so that he can't hit me or grab the ledge either but i can't pull it off

Any tips?

Obviously you should use a phantasm stall and spike him with it.

You could try something I like to use when I edgeguard, although it can be dangerous. Well, I suppose not. I usually SHL my opponents while they are off the edge even though it does give them their recovery back, but I only do this if I know they are going to make it back, otherwise it would be stupid. So I SHL and slow their momentum until I can get over there and spike them. I'm assuming if you do it correctly you could SHL him out of his Up B and then spike him if you are quick enough.

I understand the OPs problem as I play someone who also has a solid Link/Ylink. The problem is not GETTING there to spike him, it is CONTACTING him. Falco's air game does not have so much priority/range, and the twirly up-b has TONS. Also, no good Link would ever waste their up-b above the ledge where they can get shot with the laser, they will save their jump to sweet spot.

I never found out the answer to this problem. The twirly hitbox includes above it, which really annoys me. The only thing that ever worked, to some degree, was to take a hit basically. I would dair his up-b if possible (do the rising dair back onto the stage) and get smacked by the up-b but it normally killed him too.

if you want to be tricky, i guess, edge guard, drop, walljump off the stage, phantasm to the ledge spiking him and/or ledgehogging

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can phantasm a Link / Y.Link through their up+b's.

You'll end up getting hit and just falling off the stage... I think...

In my experience, I've done exactly what Biz suggested. Spike with a d-air. You'll get hit, but Link will die. It seems to work best while hanging from the ledge. Ledge hop, d-air, recover.

If you have jump lasering him on platforms, adjust your SHFFL to mid-jump/jump range. As for projectiles... well you have the shine :p Use it.

Exactly! the problem is contacting him. **** hit box with super mega priority.

Today i woke up with an idea that might help idk, I've been thinking about using the frames of invincibility from the edge to walljup +dair, i will most likely get hit but it might have a lot more chances than other things, and then do it to the point where he is forced to use his hookshot most of the times and that well that's a different story

Young Link counters Falco... don't worry about it.

I'm kidding.

Just deal with it. You're top tier. Young Link is the 17th worst character in the game.

Young Link's annoying because of his size and projectiles, right? Just don't try to laser spam against YL... you'll probably lose. Just get up in his face and pressure his sheild. After that, good things will just happen.
