Hello all. I have been fortunate enough to get to play brawl for an extensive amount of time over the past week and have landed on Lucas as my main. I however am better with other characters (Olimar specifically) but am sure Lucas is going to be my main.

On this note I need help.

1. Nair: I read everywhere that this move is godly and I agree, but I am having trouble with it. When is it best to use this move? Can it be done out of a shield (if so how)? What is best to follow it with? Does landing lag change if you land on your head and if so how do I avoid this.

2. Standard A: I love this for some reason. I want to try the shield thing to finish the combo with a grab or tilt, when do you hit shield and what should be used to follow.

3. Ground approach: I know the PK Fire deal and am good with it but I want some other ideas. What is best to use? Can I shield during the dash and use f-tilt or something of the kind?

Also my friend throws down a lot of Pit and side B really hurts my approach, what should I do to get around the side b during an approach?

Also if anyone has any questions I play lucas pretty well and am great at pretty much all aspects I avoided above (especially down B, all aerials minus nair, and sick at recovering).

Never limit his aerial game. His aerials all have nice range and priority. Dair is a great hovering/approaching aerial that has no lag when you land so you can immediately do a tilt right after (and Lucas's tilts are godly)
Fair is a great, great aerial to mix up your approach. Fair is my favorite aerial actually.

-If you nair too much, then you'll get punished, so sometimes, jump, fair and DI back to make the guy whiff and punish with a tilt/grab.

-If you KNOW that the guy is going to roll, dashcancel upsmash. If not, never use upsmash. Use Fsmash/Dsmash instead

-There is no substitute for PK fire. Thats how good it is. You can use it as an approach, you can use it while you're retreating, you can use it as an edgeguard, you can camp with it. Use it always if the opponent doesn't have a spammable projectile

-Down B is a great move to do if you get knocked away and high to stall in midair.

-use nair out of shields (just press jump and A) and always land behind the opponent. nair off ledges are also good if the opponent is close by and it has nice priority.

-His jab combo is actually good. Use it often. If they shield the last hit, just get ready to spot dodge.

For versus Pit: Do a Dash Short hop towards him and open up a vB on the way. If you're playing on something small like battlefield he'll be forced into close range or try to go over you. Just don't forget that that projectile eater can stop approaches with some dandy knockback thrown in too.

Its so hard to face falco, someone f***ing give me some advice. Nothing seems to work on him. Falco blocks all my air moves and shoots his laser when I'm on the ground. I try to pk fire to keep him away but his laser always hits me first. Arghhhh what do I do against him? Hes also too fast to do any grabs on.

Ahh... psi magnet his lasers.

Don't do grabs if it doesn't work on the guy. Use fair/nair and ftilts to space and punish any obvious rolls with dsmash. His upB still sucks so you can gimp him fairly easily.

Falco's one of the few where bair approaches are really useful.

Thanks a lot guys, turns out all i needed was a little more practice (24 straight hours of brawl time) to fine tune my lucas game.

Now I am wondering if anyone has any nice lucas combos they have come up with. Right now I am a tilting machine with Lucas and Im loving it. I also jab cancel into grabs alot and it is quite effective.

Any other ideas?
