Whenever I load the Homebrew Browser, the screen says something like "Initializing to Network, please wait...". Eventually it says "Network failed to initialize, returning to menu". I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the Wii's internet connection, because my Wii's internet works fine. So what's causing the problem? And, if it helps, I have Wii System Menu 3.4U. I plan to downgrade it through the Homebrew Channel as soon as I get the Browser working...

Do you have an internet connection? To use the homebrew channel (and thus codes for Brawl), you do not need internet, however, the Homebrew Browser is an internet browser for easy downloading of applications and games (like Doom and Quake).

Well, a guide I read by Makkun suggested that I downgrade immediately after installing the Homebrew Channel, and I know I can get a downgrader (and the Ocarina software for the Brawl+ codes) via the Homebrew Browser. And, yes, I do have an internet connection...not a very good one, but it gets the job done.

...So, that does mean there's a relation between the Wii's internet and the Homebrew Network?

The homebrew browser is for downloading applications and games. You do not need it to play Brawl+, you just need Gecko OS. I hope you're not mixing up the homebrew channel and homebrew browser. When you open the channel, there is the code manager (useless, do it on your PC instead), Gecko OS (use this for loading your codes), and the Homebrew browser (use this for surfing the web). You just didn't have an internet connection at the time, but it isn't important, because you do not need the homebrew browser, it is simply a convenience, furthermore, it is for things unrelated to Brawl, so it is not important. If you have any other questions, please ask me in a PM so as to not fill up this board.
