My brother mains with falco. I can't seem to beat him with anything. He sheilds alot and shffles nairs, he uses alot of down smashes and dairs, he can pillar fairly well and he loves to lazer camp. When ever I try to use my dash, he sheilds and grabs me. I can't seem to kill him until he's past 150 percent. I use shffled dairs, ledge hopped fairs and grabs. As a rule of thumb we always go to final d.

So I need some tips. Strategies, counter pick stages, or any advanced tactics I should learn would be great (I already know how to wave dash and can do it fairly well). Thanks in advance

falcos good as hell on fd so first of all you should pick levels with platforms. against falcos i always pick battlefield or yoshis story. the key to beating space animals with sheik is good edgegaurding especially against falco because his recovery is such garbage. if he spams lasers which most falcos do just crouch a lot wavedash out of shield and jump. use needles a lot too. ftilts to fairs always work at high %. also downsmash a lot and down throw tech chase. worrd.

Dashing isn't very effective against shield grabbers. Wave landing helps a lot in platform stages such as battlefield. I like doing hit and runs because it's easy to maneuver yourself around the stage with platforms and makes it easier to avoid your opponent's attacks.

One thing you should work on is predictability. After you play someone time after time, such as your brother, you start to learn their style inside and out, and hence can predict their actions. Start trying to play mind games, and do things you wouldn't normally do. When you're running at him, switch up running grabs and dash attacks, keep him on his toes, and be in his face constantly.

I'm gonna try and get some vids up I just need to get a camera lol. One thing I forgot to mention is that me brother will swett spot the side b and then ledge hop another side b and no matter how many times he uses this it always gets me.

Instead of dash attacking try going for grabs, it should catch him off guard if he's only used to you dash attacking. for edgeguarding, edge hog him out of the phantasm. You can also ledge hop a nair to effectively nullify the side b as a threat. Presumably he'll wise up and start using up b at which time you can drop off and back air him in the face.

One of my friends uses side B to get away as well. Here's a couple things I do.

- Start crouching and then when he shoots over you wd back and ****.

- If you know he's about to do it you can always roll back, and as long as you start a little ways away you can always gets him afterwards.

- If he's below you doing it you can always double jump and try to hit him with the tip of your backair.

my teammate mains falco, so i know how annoying that match can be..

like Twnkl said, always shuffle your attacks up. never let he think of what your planning on doing..
and your tilts are always higher priority against him so it's good to Ftilt- Fair..

haha, the most annoying inevitable death. :)

d-smash is awesome against falco.

it should be relatively to edgeguard falco once you get him off the stage due to his horrid recovery.

throw a needle if he's level to the stage to force him to up+b.

Try dthrow predict tech, upsmash on FD, if you can upsmash again or do a tilt or uair, when he lands try and predict his tech, grab if you think he will shield or dash attack if you don't, or if you predict a full jump you can fair him real quick. Learn to wavedash and needle cancel grab him, this match is all in the tech chasing, especially on FD.

Its music!

Most of the time Falco approaches you but if he decides to camp with lasers then remember how much damage those needles do..like 8% each i think. Spam those back in his face then he should start to approach you. WD back into tilts *****...d-smash raaaaaapes...TILTS and F-air any chance you get. when he gets off the stage follow the above. If he phantasms the edge camp him while he's on the stage with needles. Hopefully this helps. I <3 FD vs. Falco but FoD ***** him even harder. goodluck:)

ban FD unless you can consistently 0-death with a tech chase out of d-throw or can powershield (or ideally, both).

you want some sort of platform setup you can move around on so you don't get laser gayed. i find that around 50ish it's worthwhile to u-throw them onto platforms and try to tech chase with aerial (if they go for center stage uair if they go for the edge bair if they go in place nair or uair or whatever).

get him off the stage in any way you can and **** him. b-throw run off stage double jump rising nair works on falcos usually because they really don't have any recovery options. when they drop from illusioning into nair you run off, fair them and let them die (additional fair/bair may be required at low %s). if you've done this correctly the nair will autocancel so even if they do firefox to be funny you can probably needle them or d-smash (make sure to l-cancel if you needed to drop lower or whatever). if they firefox then needle them and fair them when they drop. d-smash works too. ledgehopped bairs, wavedash backwards and falling bair on some stages. basically just **** his recovery if he's off the stage he should be dead.

going ground based against falco is dumb his lasers will **** you. waveland around platforms and keep moving, slide off platforms into bairs and other crap. u-tilt is really good against falco if you can land it because it leads to d-smash, grab and f-air depending on percents and combos into itself if they're stupid. if you grab him tech chase him into regrab or if he goes to the ledge d-smash him off and gay him. or if you regrab throw him off and gay him. basically if you can get him off the stage at any point don't hesitate to do so you can get really gay gimpy kills if he's off the stage and you should be taking them when they come up.

this is prob my favorite matchup
to contrary belief, FD can actually work for you instead of against you...
from the information you gave, the falco dsmashes and such alot
if you know how to wavedash out of sheild, you can abuse this with a grab

to approach, throw needles from a jump, this will make him sheild the needles
when you land you grab him =]

when you grab, down throw and follow up with an up tilt or a downsmash
if you do follow up with an up tilt, follow that up with a downsmash haha

if you know he's going to tech roll the grab, follow with a dash attack
i know where your coming from with the "my dash attack gets sheild grabbed"

you and your brother sound bigginer-like in your play styles so i tried to make my methods as easy as possible
if you need anything more advance you can read the above posts or ask me for more advice and i guess ill help you out on good edgeguards and interuptions of the shine combo's

He could aldo do a dodge, he's not going to wait for him to grab him while he's in a shield after he gets targeted by needles. There will most likely not be any time to grab him at all for that matter. The best way to win in FD would probably be mind games.

If you just get in a couple of forward tilts in you should be able to get him to about 70%. Then, just slap him off and edgeguard.
