help against ice climbers

Someone I know beats me with ice climbers every time I fight him because of chain grabbing.

Any advice on how to avoid it?

Be very careful with your ground game and keep up the SHL. When you can, use the shine to separate the two and stick to the air. You can't be grabbed in the air, and I believe Falco has a stronger air game than the IC's.

If you continue to have problems, look up character specific matchups (there might be one for the IC's in the matchup stickied thread). Otherwise try Fox or Peach as a counterpick.

real advice: I believe dthrow>>>shine also splits them up. you need to grap popo and do it instantly though. I'm pretty sure this was how forward beat chudat at a local tournament in MD a while back

A few jab cancels and well spaced f-tilts do really well in this matchup as well.

I find that with Falco, utilt works really well. You can do it a few times, and it sets up well for nair chains or aerial shines to DJ aerials.

Dair, utilt if the dair connects, dair, shine if the dair doesn't.

Space your aerials and roll away sometimes. Its never smart to get too close to them. In general, just keep going in and out. Lasers, aerials, repeat.

Good luck with this match-up Final63, I think it's a pretty tough one.

Note: Based on my experience, pillaring (or just d-air), up-tilts, and aerial shines work very well on ice climbers. Also, as Raynex said, keep moving in and out while your playing so it's harder to get grabbed.

i play ice climbers all the time...
and its a tough matchup....
but the shine double jump dair is what wins me the matches....
