To start things off I just wanna say this is my first time playing a SSB game. For a little well over a month i've been using a character you guys would know as Toon Link. Why? I guess the b-air combos looked awesome, and not to mention he had top tier potential. Ever since I've been maining TL , SSBB was more than a pasttime for me. I really want to be a respected top player. BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM. Toon Link isn't doing so well. I stopped using TL as my main as of today. He'll be my side-main/secondary for now (All those wasted hrs on him will be put to some use).

So now I'm looking for a new main. Snake and MK are the 2 obvious answers. I hate that small round ******* ,so cross him out. So that only leaves me to Snake. This is where I'm confused. TL's style is what I felt confortable with, and Snake is really no TL at all. The most problems I have with Snake is that he is pretty "heavy" and I am used to aerials. Another problem is that he is hard to master, especially with all his priorities and **** mine games.
Would take forever for someone like me to learn x.x.

I have another option though. I've been leaning on Marth. He reminds me like TL (without the projectiles). BUT.......His status is debatable. At least with Snake it's certain where he stands(in the top), but with Marth....he could drop a few ranks within a few months. Where would that leave me? I don't want to have 2 mains that could be bottom of top tier/middle tier at best. I would appreciate it if someone took the time to respond with some decent opinions.

Thanks in advance...

Well, Snake often ***** Marth. Just know that in case it may sway your decision. It's worth learning how to play Snake correctly, trust me.

yeah, the learning curve for snake is a bit steeper, but once you get the hang of it, it's a very strong main to have.

First of all, let me say main the character you have most fun playing. Secondly, don't depend on tier lists to determine which character you'll play. Next, ok if you really wanna use Snake first things first, Snake is a more defensive character who revolves around mind-games. Snake as you already stated isn't an aerial character. I main Meta Knight and Luigi (still can't decide who to really main) who are mostly aerial and I also play Snake when facing proyectile users so the shift was kinda hard for me to handle. Nevertheless, after you know how to play with Snake he is a very fun character to play :chuckle: . And really knowing different characters play styles and being able to play them accordingly is awesome because that way you can confuse your opponents as well (when counter picking, character switching, double blind picks etc.)

lol @ bandwagon

but it sounds like you aren't having fun with Snake as much as TL and Marth. Like the others said, main who you enjoy the most. Snake revolves around mindgames through tilts, chaining dthrows, nades, etc etc. I'm not pro, obviously, but Snake is more of a defensive, counter player as opposed to Marth and TL, who can be quite aggressive (unless TL decides to camp like a lil *****). If you like aerials, but don't wanna use TL, use Marth.

And if you're making your decision based on tiers, you should be slapped. Just look at Gimpy in Melee hahaha
