Hey all! I've been lurking the forums for ages and finally decided to join the community. Having found myself with a fair bit more down-time than I used to, I'm looking to become actively involved and enjoy passing the time by playing with others who enjoy my favorite video game as much as I do!
So, a bit about myself. I'm a former college student looking to shift my focus and studies towards a work force program for Medical Coding. I was heavily studying psychology, but decided my heart wasn't really in it. As per Smash itself, I've been playing Smash casually since the launch of the first game on the N64, and while I've always had an interest in competitive play, I never really knew where to start looking, nor did I really have the time to buckle down and commit to the finer techniques. With the advent of actually workable online play in Sm4sh, I look to change that during my free-time. I'll probably still lean heavily towards casual play, but I love the feeling of knowing I'm actually getting better just as much as I love letting loose and having a good time!
My mains have shifted with nearly every patch of Sm4sh. Initially, I was a Greninja main, but, well... we all know what happened there. To a degree, I was able to compensate, but that didn't stop me from looking elsewhere. Now, I kind of hobble back and forth between Robin and Ike, though I find I enjoy Yoshi, Ganondorf, and Kirby quite a bit as well. With the launch of the DLC yesterday though, all of that has changed! I'm heavily favoring Corrin as my new main, and have enjoyed experimenting with him/her so far!
While Smash is definitely my favorite video game series, I do dabble in other games as well. I was enamored with Poke'mon from its launch, and the hype didn't die down for me until really this last few months. I still dabble occasionally, and I pick up every event I can (though I missed Hoopa due to working too much! Gah!), but if I'm being honest, I think I've begun to find anything more than its casual play to be far too tedious to work towards. I love the competitive gameplay, but I'm not fond of grinding endlessly while seeing minimal results.
By and far though, I have to say that Fire Emblem really stole my heart and imagination. Curious after the inclusion of Marth and Roy, I picked up FE7 and Sacred Stones when they were clearanced in a two-pack bundle at Best Buy for I think... $10-15 some ages ago. The one that sealed the deal, though, was undoubtedly Path of Radiance. Good thing they never ruined it with a horrendously written sequel chock full of Mary Sue-dom. Oh, my, I think I put a bit too much salt in my scrambled eggs this morning. Sorry about that. Anyway, I'm anxiously looking forward to FE: Fates, and if any of you dabble in that, I'll probably hit you up for My Castle stuff!
I think that about wraps it up for me. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask! I look forward to being here, getting to know you all, and laughing so hard I choke after I make some mistake that results in inevitable but sudden hilarity!
