Smash Rookie
Hello! I just signed up here, and I'm hoping to spend some good times here!
I main R.O.B. in Smash 4 (Or "Sm4sh," as I sometimes type it). I tried using him (it?) in Brawl a long while ago, but using him then didn't really feel quite right. In Smash 4, though, I gave him a shot and he just fits like a glove for me. I'm not sure why, exactly; if I had to guess, it would probably be the fact that he has ranged options as well as firepower in close quarters. Also, it's fun to mess with my opponent using the Gyro -- leave it spinning on the edge, throw it when they're recovering it, dropping it on them, and generally being a bit of a nuisance, heh!
I joined SmashBoards mostly because Relax Alax made it sound like such a good idea at the end of his video about the competitive Smash Bros. Culture. I haven't had a whole lot of company to talk to for a while, so I thought I'd come here and meet some fellow Smashers! I'd heard about the site in passing, but it never occurred to me to actually join until today.
I don't actually attend tournaments, but perhaps in the near future I could start regularly trying to! The first and only Smash tournament I joined was the Smash for Wii U tournament at Shutocon this year. I had fun, although until someone with Zero Suit Samus effortlessly juggled me by spamming up aerial attacks... It was frustrating.Howcome SHE wasn't nerfed at all, but R.O.B. was in 1.0.7?! Fellow players were surprised when I told them it was my first tournament, so I guess I'm not half bad. My only regrets aside from the juggling incident was that the tournament ran way over the scheduled time, and I had to leave due to time constraints, and I didn't ask more friendly Smashers for online contact stuff. (Perhaps someone I played with may meet me again on this site?)
Outside of Smash specifically, I suppose the majority of my interests still fall within the realm of video games. I play many Nintendo and Steam games. I'm actually not really into fighting games -- Smash is just a special exception, being so fun and unique.
I only play casually in the Smash games before Smash 4. I honestly fell for the concept that Brawl had no competitive scene -- no hard feelings, Brawlers? -- and Melee & Project M feel too unfamiliar and somewhat clunky for my tastes. Please lower your pitchforks... And Smash 64, well, I just flat out haven't played in ages.
On the topic of the competitive Smash community, I feel it's worth mentioning that I kind of look up to Mew2King as a sort of idol. I am very out of touch on anything in the competitive scene, but I've heard that he's one of the best Smashers out there. I read on his SmashWiki page that he has Asperger's Syndrome -- which I have, as well. I don't know anyone else specifically who has this disorder, but to hear that someone else has it who not only has a common interest but is well-known for his skill is really inspiring. I'm miles away from his level today, but perhaps one day I could meet him on the battlefield...?
That's all I can really think of to include in this introduction post. I hope I can have a Smashing time here on SmashBoards!
