Hello. The name is Tanner, and i'm a teenager. A streamer I watch recommended me to The Smash Brothers documentary, and although I procrastinated in my viewing, I finally finished it at about 1:20 in the morning on Christmas day. The new Smash had me hyped, so I originally planned to watch it before Ultimate released. Time caught up to me though and December 7th rolled around putting the game in my hand. I'm glad I at least watched it before Christmas.

Anyways, I'm new(ish) to the deeper scene of Smash. I made a dumb Reddit post about "how the Smash Bros doc inspires me" and whatever. In retrospect, I made it in the heat of the moment. I don't plan to go deep into the scene and what not. At least not now.

I'm excited about Ultimate though. I'm sure a lot of us are. It's only two weeks old so we don't know much about what it will become. I don't know if I'll even be playing it anymore in a few months. All I know is that I'm getting a Pro Controller in a few hours.

Hopefully.

Hey, welcome to the smash community :kirby:

You're coming in at a great time. The Ulti meta is still very young and everyone is viable for the most part. Melee is in a great spot too with a lot of young talent breaking out in the past year.

If you're looking for some content on youtube, there's plenty of channels to check out if you wanna learn more. Zero, Leffen, Mang0, Armada, Mew2King, SSBM Tutorials (ran by Kira, a former top 100 player), Larry Lurr, Nakat, Tafo Talks (done by Tafokints), among a bunch of others have a lot of awesome content to watch. Also Keef Crew makes a lot of funny content as well if you're into that.

I recommend going to smashcords to find people who play the same chars as you & meet more people. Also, the online netplay scene is alive and well. Check out smashladder if you wanna look into playing online. And when you need any specific data (run speeds, air speed, frame data, etc.), head over to Kurogane Hammer.

Smashboards isn't as active as it once was, but there's still a few people here and a lot of knowledge from top players, especially in the melee threads. Genesis 6 is coming up, I highly encourage you to watch it on Twitch.

Smash has an excellent community, I hope you stay for the long haul (;
