Hi this is my first post.
I came here because I started getting into smash bros again after a long time and I'm so much worse than I used to be so I thought I'd make a profile here and get into some discussions about combos and strategies.
Before I join or start a discussion I wanted to first ask where can I find a good website to read the gameplay mechanics so I can get up to speed. Like this site here 'http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Bros._Brawl/Techniques_and_Strategies', reason being is that I know there are quite a few mechanics that are not so obvious and I've been punished in fights for not knowing, for example I had forgot that using an Air dodge increases landing lag, or when running you can transition into shield and up smash pretty well and theres is recovery lag from when you stop running.
Knowing these things has helped me a lot because there have been times where I fought an opponent and I'm certain I'm faster or the same speed as the player but I just can't avoid that person's moves because he or she knows more.
I'm also trying to learn some tips and tricks and can use other people's advice, for instance I can do a short hop b-air against someone in front of me, but im not that accurate and fast so I use it one people who are a bit elevated off the ground, so people who can do this do they disable the 'press up on the analogue stick to jump' and relay on x/y or it doesnt matter because I thought it would make a difference but it felt so awkward to me wonder if I should try to get used to it.
I know of perfect pivoting but I only have a 3ds no way I can pull that off on a such a small analogue stick. Thing is I know how good it is because I have been in so many situations where my opponent is stuck in a recovery animation but I'm just an inch or two way from punishing them with a forward tilt or smash so when I try to move forward to punish I end up doing a running attack. Thats also happened when I'm really close to the opponent but facing the other opposite direction so when I try to turn around I end up running that direction instead of turning around and smashing (I just use a down smash if im close enough or the right character to compensate).
My mains are Link, Ike, Cloud, Roy (swordsman are cool), hopefully Corrin and Bayonetta in time because I like Fire Emblem Fates and love Bayonetta (can't believe Bayonetta 2 is a wiiu exclusive). So far I'm getting accustomed to Cloud and I think I do my best with him having trouble with the short hop up air I herd thats really key to his neutral game but just cant use it to hit people on the ground.
