  • Who do you main in your Smash game(s) of choice? Why?
  • In the past I've used a mix between ROB, Kirby, Game&Watch, Pikachu for fun. I want to focus more on Smash4 but haven't picked a "main" yet to really focus on. I played it a lot when it came, but barley touched it since. Trying to change that.

  • Why have you joined Smashboards? How did you hear about the site?
  • I joined to hopefully get better at Smash4. I play with my one friend who just kicks my butt. Its like whenever I input something he is always faster or his move just counteracts mine. I want to be at least competitive within my friends to some degree.

  • Do you attend tournaments? Do you want to?
  • I don't, but am interested. I live near the Dayton,OH area.

  • Talk about your interests outside of Smash Bros.! Anime, sports, other games, etc.
  • I am finishing up Grad school, I love film/photography, I love all other games (pc, xbox, more nintendo, etc), boating, skiing, traveling, and board games as well.

  • What other communities are you a part of? Clubs at school, other forums?
  • I am currently working and finishing up school so not a whole lot. Moved to a new area so trying to branch out some.

Hope to meet some great people on here and start getting active. I grew up in love with games and went through a period a couple years ago of trying to get out of it. I realized that its a love of mine and I should embrace it. So I am trying to get better at Smash4, started a Twitch for fun under this username, and trying to be active on other sites as well.

Thanks!

Hello & welcome to Smashboards. Glad you could join us at Smash. There's a lot in here to begin a good learning trip. Guides, posted tips and tricks. NNID/FC sharing, social threads, conversation and groups, Character threads and every game has it's own section. Everyone is a player. Proud Zelda main here thanks to the very boards itself and it's members when everybody else laughed at me for maining the beautiful and wise Hylian Princess.

That's a lot of different activities, you're balanced in outdoor and indoor as well as frantic game buttoning and precise calm film skills. That's nice. Hope you can stay with us and get better at smash. Smash not only, other social forums are available too for your other games. It's worth it. ;)

@ StarForce StarForce pretty much explained it all.
I will say that sometimes when fighting people you know, it's important to learn their patterns and such. What they do and when/why they do it will really help you to punish them in the long run.

That beside, welcome to the boards!

Very true. Patterns can lead you to a counter strategy. Not saying people panic, but when their planned things don't go out how they wanted it gets them on a tight spot because they need to improvise to get back to what they trained with. This is your opportunity to catch them off guard as they try to do evasion or other attacks to try and reincorporate into the battle as they do so normally. While people innovate and change their strategy there's so much one can do. There is never a player that will counter everything forever another player does. For example. Take it tourneys with the big guys, Mango Armado Mew2King Hungrybox, Leffen. Compared to them, we are but tiny babies in Smash but pit them against themselves and you see half win and half lose. because no matter how good you are there is always a possibility to beat them. Just practice hard and with many more irl people don't use cpus much. You'll be able to come out on top and force your friend to improvise, get better or just develop a whole new strategy. if that happens don't lag, change yours too to be as much unpredictable as you can.

I appreciate all the information and help everyone! I hope to get to know all of you. StarForce, those stained glass images are really nice looking! I always wanted to get nicely printed ones from Wind Waker of the sages.

Side note, so would you recommend playing online rather than competing against lvl 9 comps? Last night I was just playing Game&Watch against himself at lvl 9 just trying to pickup what the comp was doing.

I think online player is better practice, seeing as CPU's can pretty much read everything you're gonna do. Probably should try to find people here to play with though. For Glory is poison :glare:.

Thank you. Not mine. A user on deviantart did them. All smash characters in existence not just Smash 4 ones. Quas quas is his name credits to him. He didn't make them for me I'm just using them. crediting him is the best way to thank him.

As for online. For glory may not be the best alternative but it's the one there is. What I mean is to practice vs cpus but to improve you need humans. Cpus make mistakes sometimes and repeat patterns. Humans can but a good human player will diversify. For glory tends to spam moves and abuse certain tactics but it's better than cpus to learn. If a cpu can do it so can a player except it needs lightning reflexes. Your bet is to get friends who will play varied on not just spam or cheap tactics. Still glory is good and you can base yourself in cpus but remember cpus repeat patterns. Easily exploitable. I beat most cpus easily yet I have a record of <400 wins, >800 loses for a 1200+ total battles in glory 1 on 1. Approximately and to be exact a 24.50% win ratio. Highly a disappointing number. I went to as low as 11% win ratio once. I'm not a good smash player in any sense but I like to help others with good tips. If you want to use a specific main in smash 4, their character thread is the best place with pros on them there. But online is the best to improve and cpu to practice. ^_^

Thanks for the heads up! Yeah it was amazing how well the CPU was doing exactly the right moves. I kept thinking "wow I suck" lol I appreciate everything so far!

I hope to find some people. I am going to make a post in the "location" forums. I also plan on making some "meetup" groups around here on the app.
