Hello, I wanted to try using some headsets to play in tournaments. However, when I connect it to the jack, the audio from the tv goes silent. Is there any way for me to connect headsets to a nintendo switch AND still have the audio coming out of the tv? I'm not sure how they do it during tournaments, especially those matches they stream.

USB dongle adapter, most gaming headsets come with one for example the Logitech lineup including the G430 which is cheap and a really good headset. You can just plug it into the dock or like my BenQ monitor has a headphone jack built in.

Any way you can link or better explain? I'm sort of confused. So sorry.

The dongle adapter I’m talking about converts AUX to USB:

Video explaining different concepts on using audio while playing the switch I prefer using USB plugged into the dock at home:

Are you using earbuds or an actual headset? Depending on the equipment the LAN has depends on how you can get volume.
Some may have DACS ( Digital-To-Analog-Converter) that you can just plug your aux into the end of it and it will be hooked up to the TV.
An example of what one looks like:

Most of the LANs in my area have gaming monitors that you can just hook directly into and be fine. I hope this helps as it’s all based on what was being used, are they old ass Emerson TV’s or monitors being used? As for audio also coming out of the TV I’m not sure as to why you would want that but in the settings on the TV their should be an option that allows the TV to independently use the speakers and output audio device.
