im sure many of you have heard that havok will be used in brawl. with this new element of gameplay, what do you think is possible during a match? king dedede sucks up bowser and shoots him at dk causing dk to fly away like baseball bat to a....baseball. mario gets meteored by a DK dair straight into the ground, causing mario to become entrenched in dirt like a pitfall trap. so many possibilities, please post your ideas!

that was completely away from any Havok I know of are you referring to the
Comic Book superhero or the Ninja? or.. wait.. what?
He's talking about the Havok Physics engine. Not a character.

And, well, they just interact with characters differently, I think. Like whenever characters are thrown into or hit into characters, they react accordingly. And the direction that characters attack actually send characters in that direction, if I'm not mistaken.

With this new engine, I'm assuming we also got Footstool Stumps, riding on Crates, and rolling crates. Am I missing anything?

In this video at 0:38, Sonic punches DK into Yoshi. DK then knocks Yoshi back as well. In melee they only did that with throws.

Theres also another video which shows Link throwing his gale boomerang, and knocks a crate into Ike.

The characters are now effected by the momentum of other players or objects that collide with them.

Wasn't Havoc used in Half-Life 2?

Either way, I don't know how details the physics for a 2-D game need to be. Unless you're talking about graphics, but those seem to be more cartoony than realistic, anyway.
Nah that was the Source engine

Havok was from the *corect me if im wrong* Sonic 360 game:p

Just so you guys know, Melee didn't use Havok, but if you threw someone into someone else, it knocked them away, and there was other cool things like that.

Melee had its own physics engine, which was actually quite complete and impressive.

The Havok engine is designed for realistic collisions in 3-D space, which is exactly what Brawl isn't. Sakurai is going to have to modify the crap out of Havok in order to get it to do what he wants.

In other words, Havok isn't giving Brawl anything special. It's just a robust, realistic physics engine that Sakurai used, probably so he didn't have to start from scratch.

For all of you saying that Havok gave us footstool jumps and stuff like that: Um, not really. Those things have to be programmed in separately. There's nothing special about Havok--it just makes development easier.
